What is shoreline characterization?
Characterization of the shoreline has two objects:
1. Describe and locate use of soil and landscaping styles around the lake;
2. Estimate their importance for the whole lake.
The exercise permits an assessment of the quality of landscaping types on the shoreline and the degree of change of the natural environment. The results can thus lead, if required, to appropriate corrective and protective measures for the shoreline.
This characterization is effected by making an inventory of land use and of landscaping done on the shoreline surrounding the lake.
